To mark the 50th anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill's state funeral on the 30th January 1965, The National Railway Museum at York had on display Locomotive No. 34051 'Winston Churchill' a Battle of Britain Class locomotive that were built for the Southern Region Railways between 1945 and 1950, that pulled the funeral train from Waterloo station to Handborough, Oxfordshire . It was given a cosmetic restoration by the Mid Hants Railway to return it to as close as possible to the condition it was in in 1965. Along with the locomative was the baggage van that the coffin was carried in and that was restored at NRM Shildon.
